What is a Living Treasure?

Living Treasures of Los Alamos was created to celebrate the enormous role that so many of our senior citizens have played in the history of Los Alamos. Through their voluntary efforts they have come to serve as models and mentors providing inspiration with their involvement, commitment, perseverance, hope, heart and wisdom. They are the folk heroes who live among us. Each year Living Treasures of Los Alamos selects three new Living Treasures and honors them with a ceremony that is a community celebration of the spirit of Los Alamos volunteers. Through 2025, 105 Living Treasures have been recognized.
